I consider good broadband infrastructure as important as good road/rail/port infrastructure...we are at a major competitive disadvantage and we lose opportunities because of it. It's not just about kids being able to download their favourite movie on bittorrent.

The government should buy the infrastructure off Telstra. Then the government should price it at break even and let competition flourish. I am all for free enterprise and privatisation when it's done right, but the TLS model has stifled competition and we have lousy telecommunications at lousy prices.

What's good for one million TLS shareholders (or whatever it is) is very bad for 21 million Australians.
