Also, YouTube is just playing MP4 (a container format), the video itself is not virtualised.

With a virtualised video a new MP4 is created containing pointers to the encoded video data stored separately so you can slice and dice any content you want into a new personalised MP4 that the end user receives and plays.

Given the MP4 only contains pointers to encoded video data not the video data itself it is extremely small and lightweight, which is why the technology is so powerful.

People confuse Linius with other companies providing "search"... Linius don't provide the searching algorithms in fact they use the same searching algorithms that their perceived competitors are actually developing.

Instead Linius has developed and patented the technique to virtualise the video, store the search results at the sub-frame level, search the sub-frames for relevant matches then create a new MP4 that references matching frames on the fly that the user can stream just like a normal MP4.

With people who are trying to understand competitors it's important to come at it not from a "search" angle but from a "virtialisation" angle... until you understand what virtualisation is, how virtualisation is currently used in data science/modelling and then how that applies to video you'll be way off track trying to understand the competitive landscape.

The fact that Linius invented and have patented virtual video shows you there are no competitors (or put it more correctly, there were no equivalent patents and Linius have now blocked others from developing similar techniques in the process).
