if 6 parties are interested in acquiring cnp's assets @ up to 90cps as reported in the media, why did the sp flounder today and close at 40cps?

i read one report that said that a 90cps offer may not be sufficient to save the group from administration.

could someone please explain this point to me? if another entity takes cnp over for 90cps wouldnt that group also take on cnp's debt? wouldnt a takeover from a stronger entity be a great solution for cnp's lenders?

logically i just cant see how a takeover will not occur, thus i think cnp is worth a punt at these levels. at the very least i see great short term volotility and think that out cnp, abs, ccp, afg, mfs etc that cnp is the best bet.

my opinion only. i could be wrong.
