A great deal of commentary in this forum seems to be made in notable ignorance of the realities of the target area.

And yet, it's only a day's drive from Adelaide. You don't need a 4WD. There's only the final 100k's or so on a good dirt road (watch out for heavy rains, though!)

The Arkaroola resort offers motel, restaurant, swimming pool, camping area, a restaurant. Petrol's bloody expensive, though, so I suggest you top up at Copley (usually cheaper than Leigh Creek) on the way in!

There's a geological museum on site. Looootttts of information about geology, faults, and the local mining history of the area. There's also an excellent observatory. The weather at this time of year and through to spring is generally excellent. There are plenty of car, foot, and bike tracks, waterholes, and the national park right next-door. You might even be able to arrange a tour of nearby Beverley.

But, most of all, you could actually look around. Get Doug Sprigg to fly you over the sanctuary and point out Mount Gee and its old - and new - exploration scars. Even better, get right in amongst it on the Ridgetop Tour - believe me, you'll never forget it!

Even if you can't appreciate the aesthetic or biological merits of the area yourself you might get to understand why others do. Including otherwise conservative nuclear advocates.

And you might form an impression from examining its tortured geology and geography of just what a challenge constructing the proposed mega-tunnel might prove to be.

A visit should put the nail-in-the-coffin of the tedious, cheap, derisory and ill-informed comments made about the Spriggs, too.

Come on, be brave! The worst that can happen after a Ridgetop Tour is you might be tempted to change your mind (as well as your underwear!)
