    LOL, what a stupid thread.

You would think people were arguing about the likely outlook for the internet in 1998.

If you had spent the last four years studying the available data on a whole range of issues - climate change, demographics, food supply etc you wouldn't be sitting here arguing about whether the sun will come up in the morning like this.

You would be contemplating what happens when humans assume the role of locusts and eat themselves out of house and home at the same tme as dirting in their own nest in bigger and bigger lumps..

And then you could perhaps 'waste' some time thinking (as yellowcake has been for some time) about what the best stocks are to be in when the finite amountof agricultural land we have starts to shrink in area and productivity even faster (per head of population) than it has been for the last numerous decades.

Problem is - our whole Western civilisation is based on consumerism and ever increasing consumption (so are the future prospects of the stocks we chat about on here every day.)

So the question is not is climate change happening - scientifically there isn't a creditable scientist that is not being funded by the coal and oil industries that is in doubt on that matter.

The question is, can we as a society face the issues that slowing consumption and reversing population growth would cause if that's what it will take to not get to find out what either a new Ice Age or mass starvation looks like in real life.

Feel free to disagree - but the starvation one is looming already. Just need to go dig up some figures on global grain reserves... and I'm an optimist.
