****the ability to obtain finance has and will change.........no more easy finance for anyone....so how are all those people going to be able to finance their new low cost house they bought at 30% discount (reality probably 10% in the outer suburbs)............???? in the meantime they are paying higher rents..........
the guy earning 70,000 pa will never be able to afford or get finance for a 500,000 loan (as stated in this thread by another)
tighter credit means less people able to obtain finance.......that applies to both new homes and existing ones..........house prices may in fact rise even higher......
why is it australians demand to be able to buy a house, regardless ??? even if they cannot afford one ????
I believe some should change their attitude and accept that renting is their only option............like they do in europe.............
oh and on the subject of immigration.............bringing in a family of four or six people............usually only one of them will be employed, the balance of wife and children need housing............this is putting pressure on house prices and rents.........how many of them can afford to buy a property anyway ????? they do not come from rich countries..........usually emigrate from a poor country..............maybe the govt should limit the numbers coming in, and limit it to workers, not their families...........
