It seems like any attempt to make government and legal processes more efficient get stymied by the legal profession. I know the rule of law is important and a key pillar of modern democracies, but IMO matters shouldn’t be able to drag out for YEARS!
In this case, the fact that there is one proceeding to prove the offence, then another hearing to determine a penalty is ridiculous IMO.
The rest of society is speeding along, yet government and legal decisions take way too long. It’s not the 1800s. I always like using the manner in which the AFL makes decisions on player suspensions. All wrapped up in a matter of days, and the penalties and consequences are quite substantial too.
