I read a lot.
Back in 2016 I read "How to Read a Financial Report - 6th Edition" by John A. Tracy. This is a very comprehensible book with very clear and easy to understand explanations and examples - I recommend it.
I read it three times in a year to make sure I really understood 'how to read a financial statement'.
Back in the day I absolutely enjoyed so much reading and understanding every line of BIG's 4C and Annual Statements. These reports showed an undeniably rock solid Company, zero debt, growing bank balance, sustained strong growth and Management indicating Australia was the 'small fry' and once USA was cracked it would be a truly mega Company on the world stage.
Somewhere, someone lied.
I am glad my lo$$ was not my fault for misinterpreting "BIG's Reports" - amongst these post-mortem HC posts a Chartered Accountant mentioned he could see nothing wrong from the reported information and was caught up (suckered) just like me.
Fortunately I am a bit diversified and something else came good which has brought me back to break-even.
This is my last post on BIG, nothing new is going to happen here so it is time for me to switch off the lights and walk away.
Thanks to all for sharing knowledge, fun (in the day), enthusiasm and more recently comfort to help ease the pain.
All the best, Dan
