Am visiting Northern China at the moment and amongst other things am looking at the extent and pace of the change over to gas fired power generation.


The Glenaris pilot is testing the ability to extract gas from a single seam and uses more effective pumping technology.
It is easy to miss the fact that the need for workovers has not arisen.


This means the operation is not plagued by downtime as was the case with the previous pilots.

The reports indicate that the wells are communicating and this should point to the ability to draw gas from an increasingly wide area as the Desorbtion zone increases.


The coals being tested in the Glenaris pilot are of exceptional CSG quality and have been compared to Fairview.

The problem was achieving Desorbtion pressure and there is every indication that the results of this pilot are towards the upper level of expectations.
