bottletop - I suggest you could stop search for links that support your case and THINK - you can do this yourself - plot global temperatures from 1997-2007 on a graph - then take out 1998 and draw a regression line trough it (WARNING: this will require some knowledge of mathematical concepts).
Now look at the line - SEE!
