A bit of history regarding the Speke-1 target.


“drilled to a depth of approximately 2740 metres. The original Speke-1 well was drilled without the benefit of 3D seismic in 1984. Apache mapping indicates that Speke-1 may have intersected a subtle closure at Top Latrobe, but that it was not crestal at intra-Latrobe levels. Speke-1 did not drill deep enough to penetrate the Golden Beach level, which is clearly mapped as a significant feature “

It would also appear that Apache had the final say over which prospect was drilled as per below statement from BAS site

“Apache has prioritised Speke South on the basis of more favourable size and economics “

I could not imagine that any of the directors especially Albers who underwrote the rights issue would sanction the drilling of known dry whole given the adverse effect this would have on the share price, still plenty of people out there that haven’t forgiven or forgotten the Zane Gray fiasco.
As hellyeah said the drill bit will have the final say.
