However, no one in Australia would even dare to voice support for this idea.
For Lynas to be able to set up their processing plant in Australia, it would take so much time and money just to jump over the hurdles here. Then the scrunity will be even worse than what they face in Malaysia. That's why they wanted to do it in an easier country that is stable politically, has cheap labour and also has reasonable infrastructure and resources (water and power supply). It's just unfortunate that Malaysia is not poor enough and corrupted enough to take the money and be silent. It also has enough democracy to allow lots of voices to be heard. So, Lynas will just have to be doing the right thing. It will have to at least behave like a responsible company located in Australia, US or Europe to survive this round of political trouble. I think it is behaving and it will have to behave even better to survive. Or they have to engineer a Cambodian solution like what the Libs did (and failed).
