"Can there be equality - really? To be married to a man a woman has to play subservient to make him feel like a real man."

Why? Why "play"? Now dont throw anything at me yet.....lol.

I grew up (first lie) in a small town where 80% of the population were European refugee migrants after WW2.Our overall local society was much more European than Australian.
Papa was boss, but didnt have it written on his t-shirt. Didnt have to. When he spoke, Mama & kids listened and obeyed without question. Mama stayed home and kept house, minded the kids. She took pride in Papa bringing home the bacon.
There were few arguments, and Papa could silence anyone with a glance. Everyone knew their roles, but it was not acting...it was for real.
Boys & girls played together. The boys showed how they could climb higher, swing higher than girls. The girls knew this and looked adoringly at the boys doing their strut. (2nd lie), some girls could outrun us and outhit in baseball or "rounders".
Girls role-modeled on their mums, boys on their dads. kids were well behaved, parents were content in their "job-descriptions as such." Girls didnt feel subservient, and "Cosmopolitan" with articles by germain Greer were not there to "educate" them.
With no identity crisis, there was virtually no delinquency, little stress, no desire (yet) to emulate those poxy Jones's.
Life was good. Everyone went to school, then boys got jobs, most girls married young, though some worked till they found a husband. There was order.
Does that sound bad & chauvinistic?

Then came 'liberation", "equality",identity crisis in kids, delinquency, the "you're not gonna tell me what to do" bit, and society started falling apart. It started in the US, lol.

    Now start throwing.
