    warnie,
You don't have to convince me. There's no tall-poppy syndrome here. If you have made a motza on property then well done and good for you.

I own my own home, and for the record my first house only had 2 bedrooms because it was all my wife & I could afford.
4 houses and 13 years of hard work later I am debt free.
But we had a chance to get on the ladder and make something for ourselves. At current prices this isn't feasible for a lot of people.

The only point I am trying to make, is that it is wrong of you to blame people's unrealistic expectations as the only reason they cannot afford to buy a house.

I don't understand why you cannot see that house price rises are way above normal, and that wages haven't gone anywhere near keeping up. If ou don't believe me then study the ABS website for a few hours.

It's also simplistic to suggest that people should buy a house out in the bush because it's cheap. It's cheap because there's little demand for it. There's little demand for it because there's no work, poor access to services including health & education and you may have to pay higher prices for everything particularly food. I do agree that people should investigate perhaps moving to smaller regional towns instead of clustering in the cities, but even in the small regional towns I would be extremely surprised if you could buy a house under $100K.

Good luck with your investments, don't over-gear yourself too much or you may be one of the renters yourself in the next couple of years........
