That's what I call 'incentive' - Chinese style. You could be out of luck if you want to buy a car in China, and choose to go for the ICE lottery option. And no matter how rich you are, don't try to bribe the guy charged with the job of pulling your number out of the hat (if the hat exists); because the current corruption purge could put you and the hat guy in front of a firing squad.
Given the above dynamic, I expect Chinese EV sales to increase to 95% of all cars sold in 2019. I forgot to check the annual Chinese car sales figures before posting this, but figure its in the tens of millions. Can you imagine the demand for lithium next year and beyond off the back of that potential, juicy number?
The latter in my opinion.
