hightrax, Koestler was murdered? I find that hard to believe though nothing would surprise me in the big and nefarious world of cold war politics. I remember most clearly, reading the news that he and his wife committed suicide in a hotel room because -it was first asserted- they were both very ill. Later the view that his wife (third at the time, I believe) was also ill, was discredited and much scandal was revealed as to whether Koestler had persuaded her to take her own life at the same time as he took his. He had already a history of womanising and wife-bashing and so this second theory took a great deal more intensity and credibility. Who knows what the real truth about that incident is. They died by taking an overdose of some drug or other, probably LSD or the like because, if I remember correctly he was one of the first to have tried it.
The theory of the Askenaji jews, that he promulgated has since been keenly refuted with new DNA tests which show that these jews (who had lived in the Caucasus aka Khazaria and dispersed throughout Eastern and Central Europe) were of the same lineage as those in Israel.
All this, of course, might well be jewish history re-writing (history re-writing being very common among many nations these post-colonial days) but one needs to mention it so as to give a fuller picture of the origins of the Jewish nation and religion.
The common folk will never know the truth of anything. We are all at the mercy of historiographers and we all know that all such scholars have some agenda or other.
