lol entropylord, the chinese are the most savvy and hardest businessmen, they never overpay for assets, so if they are willing to fork out $1 billion for aed, then they must see something more than "virtual oil" as you put it.
the fact is cvn is trading on an EV/2P multiple of $30 which is grossly inflated.
you say they are hugely profitable, last time i checked they made npat of $5.1m in the first half, which puts them on a p/e of 40x
i'm not denying cvn is a good company, but it has entered the extremely overpriced zone. i can't see any value above 30 - 35c.
