I was diagnosed in 1989 and went to one of the first sleep clinics in Sydney to be tested. My apnoea count was 85 per hour and the lowest my oxygen count got to was 53%. I was heading toward death through heart failure. I was put onto a Resmed machine the size of a shoebox and have worn a mask to sleep since then. Try having a night without it once you are on it and see what happens. It takes 3 days to recover. That is hy I have 2 machines so one can be a backup/travelling machine.
Also to note...I got so bad that during the night my brain would flood my bladder in order to wake me up and get me moving and breathing so I was up 3 times a night to pee....since my CPAP I never get up through the night at all. The brain is very smart![]()
