The markets, I think, believe that the US Fed will come to their rescue again with another massive round of QE if required, or will use the military to aggressively defend the dollar.
Markets chase yield, and the USD looks good compared with the zero and negative rates which the Euro offers. A No brainer.
As to why markets ignore the unpayable US debt, well, where's the problem if they can just print money out if thin air?
There is a problem. Every dollar printed must be serviced with interest payment. Those interest dollars on new money haven't been printed yet. The growth in dollars is following an exponential curve. This is impossible to stop and impossible to sustain.
Markets chase short term gains. Looking far enough ahead to recognise the problem ahead is beyond them.
