What most people do not know is that 95% of plant life perform much better when CO2 levels are higher, that is why under controlled atmospheric conditions, like in some glasshouses the CO2 concentration can be increased to improve overall crop growth and production.
These plant types are known as C3, because of their photosynthetic process and evolved when CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere were much greater than we have today. Plants of this type at this current level of CO2 are not very efficient and during periods of high temperatures (summer) virtually stop growing because of their inability to obtain sufficient CO2!
More recently evolved plants which make up 5% of the Earth's vegetation and are mainly grasses have adapted to lower CO2 concentrations and in fact they don't respond to any changes in CO2 levels. They are mainly tropical or plants that tend to occupy arid regions. They are much more efficient in their utilizing of CO2 in the photosynthetic process.
There is a third category of plants, these are succulents and are referred to as CAM plants. They have the ability to photosynthesis at night, so that transpiration and the uptake of CO2 occurs during periods of lower temperatures and this ensures a reduction in the loss of valuable water from the plant.
The unwanted and unfounded hysteria surrounding the demonizing of CO2 needs to stop and it needs to come from our PM. Unfortunately, I'm not sure he has a basic understanding of the demonizing that is occurring with CO2, nor the willingness to confront the greens, Labor as well as the left within his party over this issue.
We need a Trump in this country to remove the unadulterated crap that is confronting us on a daily basis! But where is he?
If Morrison doesn't save us, what hope do we have because Shorten won't. And I'm not betting Morrison will. We are stuffed!!!
