Not sure what the typical ‘free moisture’ content of lithium is but I'm guessing it's somewhere between 5 and 10 per cent, moisture aids dust supression and reduces loss. For both safety and economic reasons. There is a limit on how much free moisture will be included in product being transported—for safe ocean transport, moisture limits are often imposed to prevent liquefaction, superheating etc of some ores but ofcourse every percentage point increase in moisture content increases the cost of transport. My guess is both pls and ajm had water sprayed when loading into ship hull to suppress dust. Doubt they would have been dumped in dry. Ajm probably just quoted the dmt at port for loading. In any case the product will be tested again at destination before changing hands. At the end of the day adding water doesn't change the product, nor the price we get, it will impact the shipping cost albeit immaterially imho given the quantities we are talking about. It's not shipped in solution or a slurry vs dust so not a biggie.
