Suggest you look into this yourself as my explanation may not be clear and is brief, but hopes this help a bit... "gross shorts" as reported by ASX reports total shorts the previous trading day (not net, so doesn't factor in closed positions)
T+4 reporting from broker to ASIC is their holding of total short positions (this is what flows into the aggregate short graph)
