Why wouldn't they grow sandalwood nut? They could gain credits plus have food to sell. Wow! What a concept. Actually keeping land truly productive?

Carbon credits are symptomatic of a world gone mad with ideology. Daily newspiece on food shortages and we want to crank up this sort of behaviour. Locking land away from food so we can bowl over more Indonesian rainforests? Absolutely crazy ... As the broader market deteriorates it'll be clear people care less and less about the whole carbon issue. A depression or peak oil will ration emissions far more effectively.

If I could have shorted the grain based biofuels I would have. If I could short this area I would also.

Model is fine if they produce food but they don't, nor do they seem interested. I'm actually using my contacts after seeding to get some negative press re: carbon credits vs the food shortage. Its one of my passions - seeing land used properly
