The shorts are printing money here. They borrow the shares and dump them into the market forcing the price lower. At the bottom panicked retailers will sell their shares to them allowing them to close out and walk away with bags of cash. Kind of like a self fulfilling prophecy. Then they repeat the rinse wash cycle further down the track.
