"The media are to blame for most of this s!@t, think they play to the general public to win ratings. I agree partially - but, it is a part of the public that has picked this event up from some media - and, ran with it -- it's now on social media -- which yes, media do copy - but, worse -- politicians running software and AI that identifies ideas and concepts that people are making noise about - if there's enough noise - enough marbles rattling in an empty tin - then, they will make policy on the run - no matter what the subject -- basically - it's us that is to blame. We make this stuff newsworthy --------- this thread proves it - we make it political - this thread proves it. We all sit back and want better politicians - we all sit back and want smarter politicians, we all sit back and want our politicians to be making decisions for our future Nation - but, we bring this crap to their attention ??????????????????????????????? If we don't want news and media to cover this stuff ------------ easy -------ignore it. If we don't want our politicians to be involved in stuff that isn't crucial to our futures - like economics, education etc. ----------- then, ignore this other stuff on a political level. We have a debt that we cannot get a grip on -- we can hear the BS that says we will get a grip on it - but, we have heard the BS before. We KNOW that we are entering the most massive change in human history with what will be (over a period of time) the FULL move away from human labor to machine labour. We KNOW that in an environment like we have and most certainly a future environment - it is either be smart or die -- or, at least be smart or go into the poverty dust - why, in the name of god would we want to waste time even mentioning that a bloke who thinks he is a woman won a bike race????????????????????????? And, worse still - to bring that to the attention of the VERY people who should be thinking of things like - 'how the hell is society going to work when humans don't?' IMO - it's complete stupidity - and, it's us that do it ----------- we deserve exactly what we have got and what we will get. Media will only give us what we demand -- if we ignore things - they won't even give those things the time of day.

seriously, I do not want parliamentarians or bureaucrats trying to act on our behalf by preparing for what they ‘think’ will happen. As you’ve already said, they haven’t the neuronal capacity to decide whether they want tea or coffee when they wake up after the PMs question time, let alone philosophise on the outcomes of technology. At best we’d end up with a whole pile of regulations setting us twenty years behind everyone else, like the nbn.
Leave it to the market. It’ll bumble it’s way through, but large parts of the outcome will be satisfactory.
