Quite apart from the governments embarrassing admission of botching this vote, how on earth do all those Liberal senators not look at this motion and say,"hang on, this is bad and is going to blow up in the government's face".

Not a single one of them had the nous to stop this idiocy.

Now we see the unedifying spectacle of the government asking the Senate for a do-over on the vote.

Like when school kids ask for the ball to be thrown again "cos they were looking the other way".
