Quite apart from the governments embarrassing admission of botching this vote, how on earth do all those Liberal senators not look at this motion and say,"hang on, this is bad and is going to blow up in the government's face".

Well quite often they are absent from the chamber and only attend when the bell rings, on arrival look at their voting instruction sheet so they know which side to sit on.
Also some agreed with the motion. Maybe they all agreed with the motion oblivious to the connotations of the title.
Additionally the minister responsible for the policy area makes the decision and I don't think we have a Minister for maintaining white privilege.

Another jokey alternative, as I have read, is that Morrison has been given a box of exploding cigars to keep everyone amused before the Wentworth by-election.
