Remember a trading halt is needed only when something is happening where you do not know full impact during the process. What should take so long if there was a problem? Of course making a deal is exactly the thing where you would need the trading halt. Bring everything you have in potential to the table in order to make the deal, meanwhile while trading that info would effect the share price and if it is a private presentation even worse.
If there were a serious problem Troy should have announced the problem at the start of the trading halt and later report the full impact.
