They wouldn't since it would be unethical to do so. If you start a trial with cART you are not allowed to stop it. While this makes sense from an ethical perspective, it does make it very difficult to determine if you have cleared the virus from every cell in the body since cART will stop the virus from replicating. Only if you stop cART (which you are not allowed to do) do you find out if you have cleared the virus.
