They seem to be implying that MTC may attract a large investment that may then be used to take a stake in a producer.
M&A's are in full swing internationally across the junior miners so it doesn't seem out of place, especially given MTC has already made BCC work which is still not something you will see from other new explorers.
Given the cashflow from that stake could fund MTC's project development, reducing the need for cap raises etc. it could be a decision with compounding future value. But most people would be more interested in the possible run to 50c if a deal of this size were announced, I bet a whole lot of people put MTC on their watch list after reading the article to see how this plays out.
At the very least:
This bodes very well for securing good prices for selling off stakes in individual MTC projects, and the prices paid will make it clear to investors how many millions each of the projects is worth which should make for re-rate conditions.
I have seen an Australian company pay $3.5M (cash+shares, and the shares ended up being sold for a hefty profit) plus $1.5M on achievement of a 5MT JORC = Much more than $5M for a Lithium project with these drill results:
I'm not even going to put them into my Excel spreadsheet because it's extremely clear Cancet is much higher grade, has more drilling done and is much better defined, and is also closer to surface.
Anyway, since then that company has, combining ALL (old ones + $5M extension) their projects, got a maiden JORC of 3.45MT at 1.4% combined.
This 3.45MT was enough to hook a cracking AUD$80M+:
=
Of course there is potential for extensions but the models indicate these are at depth, i.e. higher OPEX.
So if 3.45MT can attract $80M, what sort of prepayment/finance/sell down valuation can Cancet get considering the greatly enhanced economies of scale of a large deposit? Cancet's 15-25MT at 1-2% Lithium plus 100-250ppm Tantalum exploration target was just for the initial 1.2km mineralised strike. There is now 6km of prospective strike.
Then there's the value of the 10 other projects.
Rusty Lake alone cost $1M just for MTC to purchase.
I believe either deal will be much larger than anyone will ever expect, and I'm looking forward being that guy who called it early and had the balls to make the most of the opportunity.
