i think people have jumped the gun in thinking that the Recycling option "was never an option".

The news from Lynas release said that permanent storage was the "preferred option. "

There is a difference between Recycling not being a preferred option and not being an option at all.
So i think that conclusion is wrong.

We dont know the reason why it is not the preferred option. I would hazard a guess that it would be a harder longer process for a Govt to assess a recycling option, whereas a storage option is basically the selection of a site and compliance to building specifications for a storage facility. Very few variables compared to a prolonged period of research and continued assessments of the recycled product which is what is happening.

Condisoil is a more difficult option to assess and hence not the preferred option for the Govt. Can someone prove me wrong and show us where it has been said that it was never going to be approved? It does not make sense to be given 2 choices when one of those choices is not option.

I think recycling is obviously the better solution. Lynas made a brave choice embarking down this path because it was the right thing to do. i like the fact that Lynas has been acting on principle and not simply chosing the easier path. What we didnt count on was the sudden turn in sovereign risk which created this hostile environment.
