trader, there was a seller about for that volume (8.5 million shares). A bit pointless putting them up on the screen so they rang a few brokers and shareholders to see if they could find a buyer. Pretty good sign that they found one (or more?) at that price so quickly. It must have been different brokers as they were put up about 5 seconds before they were bought.
No need to presume that either buyer or seller knows anything that everyone else doesn't know. Often the seller was where a fund holds the stock and a new manager comes in to run the fund and is not familiar with the likes of EQX that is held by the fund.
