Although the sale of the life insurance arm indicates they know things need to change. It was predominately AMP planners selling AMP life insurance. Compares reasonably from a quality perspective with other available policies but its rarely cheap in comparison.
Perhaps only those able to look Long Term can understand.
Those small investment/cost insurance policies are what attracted so many young, or on low incomes, into acting to protect themselves and their families, these policies often their first longer term investments.
The policies well presented, by sales agents did not receiving sudden huge returns, though a steady trickle, yet these costs to AMP almost always returned a small profit to AMP.
The policies were teasers, yet rarely returned loss, just a smaller profit.
Those low profit policies are what drew so many into actually investing into those other different AMP investments and superannuation schemes.
IMHO this sale is like AMP has decided to sell the hen which lays those golden eggs.
