I agree but they werent always bad. Back in the days when AMP was a mutual (I mean way way back) they were a pretty nifty little vehicle. Once the bad days came along and the commissions on these products were increased they struggled to break even after 5-10 years.
Remember before superannuation there was no tax effective savings vehicles and if people couldnt afford property they had no way of building wealth.
