There is sufficient scepticism to not accept global warming on face value.
The fact that the average worlds temperature fell by 0.7c in 2007 compared to 2006 is however perplexing. This has been explained by some as due to a dropoff in sun-spot activity, indicating a possible shift in the suns magnetic field, which has the potential to alter the protection that it currently gives us, allowing more cosmic rays to affect our upper atmosphere - which apparently alters the chemical balance and breaks down some of the greenhouse gases.
All too many variables in the equation for anybody to be able to balance the equation, plus likely a few that we don't know about.
IMO we will have to wait and see. If we see another drop in global temperature this year then we will have some of those advocating global warming running for cover as temperatures will have fallen to those seen at the start of the industrial revolution!!!!! It may be that we need to burn more coal to maintain C02 levels so we don't freeze.
(NB I understand the first quarter temperatures this year were 0.2c lower than the average global temperature for the first quarter last year so we are off to a good start on this)
I'm not saying that I believe in global cooling any more than I believe in man-made global warming, but the international average temperatures falling when the global warming camp have told us the warming will be accelerating year-on-year is very intriguing.
