    steve, you have to read between the lines mate.

    now why would sinopec, the world's largest oil refiner, concern itself with aed, a pi ss little oil speccy? surely it has the resources to buy much larger oil producing companies.

    this deal is significant because it's the first time a chinese company has bought an aussie oiler. the chinese aren't after aed's oil, they want the precedent.

    if aed falls, then what's next??? they'll use the precedent to go after woodside

    imo the gov will block this on national interest grounds
