I remember a sergeant pointing a machine gun at me and what I felt was absolute terror. I agree 100%. The military exists to inspire terror with its presence and inflict terror with its actions. It's not surprising when the victims start reflecting that terror back.
A few days ago I saw the movie "kite Runner"

One of the lines still has me chilled
"Afghanistan is not kind to invaders."
I'm hoping that Australia's business in Afghanistan comes to a speedy and mutually beneficial conclusion.
The US provides an almost unbelievable level of support for Israel, intellectual, matériel and financial. One way or another there is US complicity in virtually every aspect of Israel's arsenal of WMD. I wouldn't be surprised if somewhere on every one of the thousands of cluster bombs Israel has left unexploded in Lebanon, there is a discrete little tag saying "Proudly made in the USA."
The US gives so much to Israel but what do they get in return?
