Hmmmmmmm.

Strengthening the board with another independent director is a good step in anticipation of the company moving from explorer to producer.

They already have two, but as the chairman (Simon) isn't independent, it is good add a third.

I'm not so sure about the choice, however. They already have one mining engineer on the board (Brett Lambert), so his technical background is probably not adding much.

His weight of experience as an executive will be helpful, but I would have preferred someone with a legal background, particularly in mergers and acquisitions experience. I suspect a spirited takeover defence is going to be needed at some point.

On top of that, he's the chairman of another ASX-listed company, a private company and a major commitee, and a non-executive director on two other ASX-listed companies.

He's stretched pretty thin by the looks of it. If he's serious about being involved, I'd hope he is going to step down from some of those over the next 12 months. Otherwise I can't see how much value he will add.
