    Yes it makes no sense why he's so underrated in Australia. Maybe we have become obsessed with political correctness and we can't appreciate anything without first wondering if it's politically correct or not. (The books use some phrasing which was common back then but some may consider it politically incorrect today). If you listen to the talking books they have a disclaimer saying this at the beginning. Thats the only reason I can think that he isn't more popular or well known.
    I also enjoy his descriptions of the Australian bush, as good as Henry Lawson IMO.
