    But the gas market is clearly continuing to tighten. There are a lot of coal fired power stations out there, many old and highly polluting. Particularly in China citizens have had enough - its clearly impacting health and longevity.

    I can only see gas demand going one way - up.

    Japanese imports of liquefied natural gas rose 6.5 percent in October when compared to the same month a year ago, according to the provisional data released by Japan’s Ministry of Finance.

    Japan, the world’s top LNG buyer, imported 6.54 million tonnes of LNG last month compared to 6.14 million tonnes in October 2017, the data shows.

    This represents a year-on-year increase in LNG imports for a third straight month.

    The value of October LNG imports was about $3.7 billion, a rise of 49.3 percent on year.

    On the other side, the country’s coal imports for power generation declined in October by 7.2 percent to 9.19 million tonnes.

    The Karunia Dewata is the largest FSRU to be built in China and the first to feature Type C cargo tanks, LR said in its statement.

    The unit will be based in Indonesia and will be capable of regasifying around 50 million cubic feet per day.

    Italy’s Caronte & Tourist takes delivery of LNG ferry Elio

    LNG-powered Ro-pax ferry Elio has been delivered to its owner Caronte & Tourist Lines in Messina, Italy, under the GAINN4MOS project.

    This vessel is claimed to be the first LNG-powered ferry to sail the Mediterranean.

    This ship will be operating in the Strait of Messina, linking Sicily and Italy mainland.
