Aussiepunter,
will be interesting what the G&G people say about the source rock in the post-mortem (the post dry-hole report), if they at least present the conclusions. FAR stated they drilled through cap rock, and they had reservoir in Samo. Since they drilled a well in FAN South 1 that was at best marginal, and this prospect continues south into A1 where it is called Alhamdulillah, it may just be that the source rock south of SNE is of much poorer quality than in SNE. If that is the case, it has essentially killed off the oil prospectivity in northern Gambia, for both A2 and A1. I personally think it is more likely that this is a source rock problem than a migration problem.
After the dry hole on Samo, i think the final analysis of this well is very important, and I believe it will also impact the prospectivity of Soloo and Bamboo. That being said, drilling exploration wells is what an exploration company should be doing. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. That is exploration for you.
