Yes ... but if you think about it they are not that different. My expectation is that AUZ's cost of capital will be somewhere in the vicinity of 8%.
Why have a discount rate at all ... to recognize that $1 today is not the same as $1 in the future (opportunity costs, inflation etc.)
Why do banks charge interest on debt ... because $1 today is not the same as $1 in the future (opportunity costs, inflation etc.)
