Just in case you were claiming that the acquisition of MyStemKits was purely "hopeful", and to counter the context of your sentence which intimates "desperate", I would suggest that it was also opportunistic and strategic.
The involvement and interest of Tony Grist since the acquisition of MyStemKits indicates that there is potential here. Lets see whether it can be realised
