Likely they are not thinking about all of the $65m shares that need to be covered. They are thinking about their little slice of the pie - likely $1m or less. Given the daily volumes, they are probably thinking that they will be able to cover this easily. When the share price starts rising and they realize that they have misjudged and everyone is rushing for the same exit, the fear and panic will set in and it will be on like donkey kong!
