They did. Their initial exploration period lapsed (3 years from memory), then they applied for it again (so did we) and I believe our application took precedence given it was lodged first (and maybe something else). It was a flurry of activity at the time (lodgement of applications by Vale and us), and there was as little as a few hours in it..
At the time I had low expectations of getting the permit on a technicality; but as history shows, we did all the right things.
Note, they didn't sell it.
