@brotherprinter
I agree with AOF here.
First - The shut down of Hazelwood has caused significant problems in Australia. Just now i am reading an ABC article pointing out that Sydney is having to purchase more coal above contracted prices due to strong and competitive Chinese demand. Further, these power stations are slowly becoming the highest cost plants to operate, forcing more players out of the game. You cannot just say that Victorian electricity prices exploded for no reason.
And I will clarify I am a bigger supporter of the battery/EV revolution as the others in these threads, I think that we should take more care with the environment and electrict vehicles and batteries will make our society more efficient. But we cannot dive headfirst into new critical infrastructure as the labor party is suggesting without considerable thought, and not to mention the coalition obviously are not against the battery revolution, i will get to that later.
I mean look at NBN, already obsolete and Australia managed to stuff it up, going way over budget. We invented WIFI and we still cant get this stuff to work!!!
Second - Baseload power is not becoming redundant sir, I mean have you seen the multiple power outages in South Australia, losing millions to the economy due to inefficieny!
Your thought process of baseload becoming obsolete is dangerous. Humanity will always need a BASE - LOAD of power, it doesnt matter where it comes from. You saying "fast becoming obsolete" will just rocket electricty prices by shutting down all power stations and relying on solar panels which will FOR THE MOMENT BEFORE WE FIGURE OUT HOW TO BUILD BATTERIES OURSELVES, destroy all small business and lead to unemployment etc.
And by the way i agree infrastructure we have is old and inefficient, which just proves more to us that we are already at a disadvantage/handicap/ have an inability to maintain infrastructure as a country in the wider goal to transition to renewables.
Third - The coalition and especilly Scott Morrison are not anti- battery. Sir just today they proved you wrong. The federal government have joined the push for Australia to become a major manufacturing and processing of lithium ion batteries, noting that we lose so much potential revenue from shipping away our abundant lithium to China.
Here is a link to the article.

Fourth - And also let us not forget fellow copperites that those who complain that Australia are a decade late and are calling the coalition some sort of science deniers or something. Must have forgotten that 10 years ago the Labor party were in power and I was 10 years old then but i dont remember them pushing to be frontrunners in the race to become battery manufacturers.
Was it some sort of tax? that stifled economic growth? destroying jobs?
Taking away politics, we cannot say Australia is 10 years behind due to any one party. We as a country are still very young and evidently pretty poor at being a front - runner in anything. But I do hope that we continue to
PUSH FORWARD AND STOP SHIPPING EVERY MINERAL WE DIG UP TO CHINA because we waste so much money. But again Australia as a country is again handicapped by the exorbitant labour costs compared to China and US which means our profitability is poor, which left to the market, will automatically shift resources overseas, so thus some heavy ass subsidies will have to come in.
Fifth - Again as i said in the original post, we cannot compare ourselves to China, USA or "california" as you did, that state makes billions from tech giants and probably has more power than our federal govt. We are our own little island that seems to be poor at everything, but again hopefully we cant change that stereotype with BATTERIES.
Now again everyone who supports the rEVolution and Batteries. IM SUPPORTING WITH YOU TOO.
This is a once in a lifetime of the earth opportunity to really make our mark on global business. We have some very skilled firms and with a united country (In my dreams) we could really make Western Australia / Australia a powerhouse which doesnt become a boom town for 2 years then receed into a ghost town when demand for minerals falls.
Now back to GXY, IMO and from a year of research and reading from some really talented and devoted posters, GXY is the best Li play on the asx with its lack of debt, 3 assets that are all world class, IMO people have not grasped how big James Bay will be. Along with probable takeover of lepidico, we will be making the most money out of all the Lithium asx companies by 2026.
Cheers, and please read till the end before getting angry, I tried to restrain myself. At the end of the day, we are all shrimps in a big world, just trying to make a buck.
GO GXY
