Its always hard to decide wether the public money is being spent wisely. The disturbing fact imo is that most of the defence budget is spent overseas. We have the people the know how and the facilities to design build and commission all of our war toys in Australia. But our politicians prefer to out source it mostly to our potential enemies. What a bloody joke!. Say our asian mates decide they don't like us anymore and declare war. Most of our weapon systems are overseas designed and supplied so suddenly they turn off system, we no longer make any motor vehicles so they cut off the spare parts, most of the ammo is asian made so no more ammo and as one poster pointed out we have about 2wks fuel reserves and that would be bragging I think. To my knowledge I think we only have two oil refineries left in Australia 1 in Kwinana WA and one in Vic. Imo its time our pollies decided to consider more local value adding and become more self sufficient , boost our oil capabilities, manufacture our iron ore into steel, manufacture many more of our vast raw materials, secure our food resources instead allowing it to be controlled by overseas interests and have our own people build our defence toys at our facilities in WA,SA VIC NSW and turn Australians into fully employed self-sufficient proud people like we used to be.Not as we are today. Lazy wingeing overpaid bludgers who think the world owes them a living .
