calm down you're getting hysterical.
Oil isn't used to run factories - that's electricity. Most often produced with coal, nuclear, hydro or renewable sources. Its not used to make steel either - that's coking coal. The only thing that it is (currently) essential for is transport.
But don't think it will be essential for ever. We just got used to it because it was cheap and easy to come by. Now it isn't anymore so alternatives are being developed. The most important will be electricity. Its worth researching this before writing it off with unfounded diatribe.
