What KMART has going for it is that whoever is doing its product selection has good taste.e.g. their homewares and decorations are consistently on trend.
Can't say I've ever felt that about TRS.
I think if the $2.70 offer isn't taken up, the bidder will LOWER their offer to $2.50. They will say it is because on reviewing the figures, they think that's all they want to spend. Suddenly the floor falls out from the current price and everyone who has been holding to see where it will go loses hope. Sells.
Disclosure: Former holder based on valuation calculations - even though I don't think it's a good business or well managed, mathematically it checked out. But sold to pursue better options (BSL, WBC, AAPL).
