" ill informed, lack of substantiated, low content posts"

Flippa - these sort of posts are rampant on the AUZ threads, on both sides of the ledger. But in my experience, most commonly on the side of the bulls. And they usually get heaps of 'likes'.

I'll give you an example, relevant to today's announcement.

Remember the NAIF funding announcement on 15 November.

I did some research on NAIF and made a post after the discussion was well under way and a few follow-up posts. I literally got slaughtered by the likes of putin, teddy_afro, Ura, JD, Chillaxed, Merlin, ThePurpleEagle, Drunknmastr, Allens, and many others.

This was my post – which garnered a massive 1 ‘like’:

“While this is certainly a highly positive source of funding, it is now clear that there is not going to be any short term funding joy.

Completion of the Strategic Assessment stage is promising, but that stage is very 'high level'. It needs to be recognised that all the detailed and important work occurs in the next two stages - with the Due Diligence stage, imo, bound to take 6-12 months and be very costly (and hence the need for the Bergen funds - which now makes sense).

The final stage, Investment Decision, is highly political and impossible to estimate in a time sense. But at the very least, AUZ will need to have all other elements of its funding package fully committed before NAIF makes a final decision.

So the latter part of 2019 before all the ducks are lined up - and that still depends on a satisfactory BFS and securing of sufficient partners”

Some of the responses to my considered post (which is now confirmed as accurate) were vitriolic and ridiculous – here’s just a few:

    Putin
Where is your evidence that this naif timeline blows the schedule out of the water?

How can it be a fall back position if they are attempting to lower the cost of capital for shareholders? How do you know this was never part of the plan to source funding from 9 banks and have naif work in conjunction to lower our interest repayments.

Are you paid to post negative comments on behalf of some organization?

    Chillaxed
I’d say that you are a Johnny with an Agenda who dreams of getting into a good thing at 2.8 per your own post’s.

As a Johnny who has been around for a while....and capable of lateral thinking and sounding you out....given you say you have experience on both sides of the funding fence....you would know that the detail remains confidential until it reaches a stage of completeness that it can be announced.

To balance up your opinion.....my opinion is that the funding with the interested financiers.....in co-operation with NAIF is further advanced than you would like to admit for your agenda and will likely be in place in 3 months.

This is of course my opinion.....which is different to your opinion of 6-12 months.
My opinion vs yours.....mmmmmm lets see

I really, really don't want to quote you.

The Naïf timeline that you are suggesting (and may end up being true) in no shape or form 'blows AUZ mine construction target out of the water'.

I'm now going to assume you've never built a house.
Here's a tip. You don't pay the builder 400k the day he lays a slab.

    Ura-bull
Also - please don't talk about a NAIF timeline like you know what it is. The government has made recent changes to NAIF procedures and have made clear indications they want to streamline it and get it issuing funds ASAP (like before an election ASAP) so for all we know we might have a decision in 29 days.

Collectively, these way-off-the-mark posts received almost 100 ‘likes’.

My suggestion - be very circumspect about ‘high thumbed’ posts. They will lead you astray. They are populist and aimed at delivering what human nature wants to hear. That is, people want fantasy and whatever it takes to make them feel good about their lives, in this case their investments. It is an addictive trap.

In the light of today's announcement and recent events it would make an interesting exercise to look back over the threads over the last year and see who had the better insights into what has happened.

As the saying goes, ‘those who don’t learn from history are bound to repeat it’. Much like those types who put contrarian posters on ‘ignore’ really reduce their opportunities to learn.
